WOMAD NZ in New Plymouth has gained a reputation as one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in the world. New Plymouth was recently voted by a UN appointed group the best city in the world (population 20 - 70,000).
This annual event has a capacity of 11,500 people per day so there is ample space to accommodate everyone within the 52-hectare park.
At the heart of WOMAD NZ is The Global Village. Made up of more than 80 stalls trading a vast range of international foods, beverages, arts and crafts.
For the first time at WOMAD NZ the 09 festival will present a Sustainable Village. This area will showcase methods, ideas and companies which support sustainable methods.
Workshops with performers are very popular and the Kidszone brings out the creativity in all children. WOMAD is known for its family-friendly atmosphere.
The festival operates a zero waste philosophy which minimises the impact of the event on our environment.
Camping and marae style accommodation is available on site or the city offers a wide variety of accommodation from low cost to luxury.
This festival really is New Zealand's premier annual summer music festival.
